Today I sat down with local Austin artist, Tee-Double, who has spent more than twenty years in the music industry. As a rapper from the “Live Music Capital of the World”, Tee-Double has spent his time growing relationships with other individuals in the industry to help him sustain a healthy career, by not only releasing albums but also licensing his tracks and selling his personal brand.
In our chat, Tee-Double walks me through finding his passion for hip hop in Prince’s album, Dirty Mind; how he became a local superstar because of Hip Hop Hump Days (H3), a weekly show on 6th street for rappers; and his current involvement with Austin youth through his non-profit, Urban Artist Alliance, where he teaches a 360 view of the music industry from producing to the financial business aspect to inspiring artists.
